Gilgamesh, the overbearing king of Uruk, finds a match and dearest friend in the wild man Enkidu. Together they kill the forest ogre Humbaba and the Heavenly Bull, but the gods condemn Enkidu to death. Terrified, Gilgamesh wanders after eternal life, only to learn he cannot keep it.
